What would I expect from my Examination?
Your dentist will use your examination to see how healthy your mouth is and if you need any work done. Your dentist will also assess how well your children’s teeth are growing as part of an examination.
During your examination, your dentist will have a good look round the inside of your mouth and check your teeth, inside of your cheeks, roof of your mouth, the soft palate, your face and neck and feel under your jaw.
As well as looking in your mouth, the dentist will ask you some questions, such as whether you have had any pain or sensitivity in your teeth or gums recently, what your general health is like, whether you’re on any medication at the moment, what your diet is like and whether you smoke or drink alcohol.
Your dentist will tell you how often you need to have an examination.
